“I started training with Nic in 2012 seeking improvement in my overall athletic ability and to address some functional deficiencies with my body. My goal was to improve my performance competing in ITF Tae Kwon Do and to ensure sound preparation for my 1st Dan Black Belt grading test in 2013.

From the very first meeting with Nic, I found myself in a different mind-set with my training. Here I was, with the guy that trains the All Blacks – that was motivation to work! Nic had a patient and thorough approach to working with me and found my limitations without making me feel like I didn’t belong in that space. We worked a lot on building a solid foundation in terms of strength and functionality to ensure I stayed as injury free as possible and then nearer to events (and my grading), on endurance and fitness. Every session with Nic felt like a gain – there was no wasted time and there was never a session when I thought, “that was easy.

Even when not working with Nic in the gym, he stayed in touch with email and kept a watchful eye on my progress, which was hugely helpful throughout the time we worked together. Nic was very holistic in terms of recommending dietary changes, supplements and always focussed on recovery as much as building workouts. I passed my two day long Black Belt grading with an “A” pass, which was certainly in no small part due to the time, effort and attitudinal impact that working with Nic had on me as a Tae Kwon Do practitioner.”
